Organisers of a music event involving rapper Smiso Zwane‚ popularly known as Okmalumkoolkat‚ announced that they had decided to remove him from the event’s line-up. This is after social media calls from fans and brands to boycott the rapper following his previous conviction on sexual assault charges.
Caster Semenya smashed national records at the South African Senior Athletics Championships, winning the 400m, 800m and 1500m races on Saturday. She ran all three races within the space of four hours, recording Olympic qualifying times in her first two races. Fans of the athlete sent out words of encouragement on social media.

The African National Congress (ANC) launched its election manifesto Nelson Mandela Bay in Port Elizabeth over the weekend. The event attracted about 42 000 people in a stadium that can seat 450 000. The empty seats raised questions among the public on social media as people tweeted their thoughts on why the event was attended so poorly.
